A chacun son Everest
In 2004, Christine Janin and her team celebrated the 10th anniversary of A chacun son Everest ! A year to reflect on past achievements and look ahead to another decade of new projects and new peaks to be conquered by children affected by cancer. A few important facts and figures effectively sum up the action of A chacun son Everest! since 1994: 1,563 children led to the summit, 107 events organized, work in partnership with 20 Hospitals, the opening in 2001 of the « Base Camp » House located at the foot of Mont-Blanc with room for up to 40 people and finally, for the association itself, the official stamp of state approval.
Christine, who still regards the mountain as a human and sporting challenge, continues to pass on her passion by organizing 15-17 events every year, with around twenty sick youngsters. They meet at Chamonix and from there start their climb to the peak…like a climb to life. Increasingly in demand by the medical profession which has recognized the therapeutic benefits of its work, the association has various plans for the future: to bring more hospitals into its scheme, to involve children from other European countries and to continue taking them to exceptional destinations and distant peaks.
