Expert advice: Key steps to be gentle with your thicker skin

    Cleanse

    Essential for good-looking skin

Pollution, perspiration and impurities linked to daily activities choke your skin, which becomes more prone to imperfections: skin is dull and can’t breathe, so it ages faster. For fresh-looking, soft skin, cleanse it morning and/or night. Remember to cleanse the neck too, and concentrate on the oilier T-zone of the face. Rinse with cool water to tone the skin.

    Men's Skin

    ClarinsMen
Why does it need specific skin care?

With its thicker epidermis, dense dermis and intense cellular activity, men’s skin is quite different from women’s skin. It ages later, but also more suddenly. In addition, it is aggressed every day by shaving.
So it needs specific active ingredients. Clarins, the plant expert, has selected new, highly energizing, soothing and toning active ingredients perfectly adapted to men’s skin, and created the ClarinsMen range.

    The T-zone

    The T-zone
    What is it?

The T-zone comprises the middle of the forehead, the nose and chin. It’s the zone where there is often excess sebum, which encourages the appearance of spots and blackheads.

    Shave

    A simple shave routine

Before shaving, prepare your skin: cleanse it in the morning and evening and regularly exfoliate to eliminate dead cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Adapt your shaving product to your type of beard. Soft or tough beards require different products. Try out several different razors to find the best one for you, and always change blades often.

    Exfoliation

    Exfoliation
    What is it?

An exfoliator (or scrub) is a skin care that helps skin to breathe by removing all impurities from pores and eliminating dead cells. Exfoliation should be carried out once or twice a week, in the shower.

    Tough beards

    Tough beards
How do you deal with it?

Do you have rough skin which burns after shaving? Then you need to soften beard hair, which means penetrating the hair follicle to soften the hair and slows its growth. Apply Shave Ease Oil before your regular shaving product to help soften whiskers or use alone to facilitate razor glide And always remember to regularly exfoliate your face to smooth skin texture and deep-cleanse pores.

    Eye Care

Eliminate dark circle and undereye puffiness

The skin of the eye contour is four times finer than on the rest of the body, so it is very fragile. Stress, a bad diet, fatigue and bad subcutaneous circulation soon lead to the appearance of dark circles, undereye puffiness and lines. But there’s no need to panic! Simply choose a fatigue-fighting skin care which tightens, reduces puffiness and smoothes away lines.

    Application
How do I apply an eye contour care?

For the best results, gently apply to the eye contour without pulling the skin. Place the palms of your hands under the eyes and press lightly, then move towards the sides of the face. This movement encourages fluid release and the decongesting effect. And above all, get a good night’s sleep…

    Age control

    Age control
    When should I start?

From age 45-50, years of hard work, stress, exposure to pollution, the sun and harmful daily factors have all left their mark on your face. Wrinkles appear, the face becomes heavier and the features slacken. It’s time for an anti-ageing boost to smooth the features and firm the skin.

    Moisturize

Moisturization is also a man’s business

You have dry, uncomfortable skin, prone to redness. Look no further: you have dehydrated skin. This is due to factors such as pollution, the cold, sun exposure, air conditioning and skin ageing. All you need to do is choose the moisturizer you prefer: a gel or a balm.

    Balm or gel

    Balm or gel
    What’s the difference?

Balms and gels have the same active ingredients, it is just the texture which is different. If you like comfortable but non-oily textures, go for a moisturizing balm. Clarins recommends the balm for dry skin or in cold climates. If you prefer lightweight, refreshing textures, choose a moisturizing gel. Clarins recommends the gel for normal or combination skin, and in warmer climates.

    Shiny skin

    Shiny skin
What can I do about shiny skin?

The sebaceous glands are stimulated by pollution, stress, heat and a bad diet, and can cause shiny skin.

To restore healthy, matte skin, follow Clarins skin care routine (cleanse skin morning and evening, and exfoliate it once or twice a week) then purify the skin with a matifying moisturizer with a refreshing, non-oily texture.
